Top-ranked Indiana won the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday night, defeating No. 10 Miami (Fla.) by six, 27-21, to win the program’s first title and complete a perfect 16-0 season.
Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza finished with 186 passing yards, but it was his fourth-quarter rushing touchdown on fourth-and-4 that defined the game. The tackle-breaking, 12-yard scamper kept the momentum on the Hoosiers’ side, and the defense sealed the game by picking off Carson Beck in the final minute.
