2025 MLB MVP Race, Odds: Raleigh Takes Over As AL Favorite

2025 MLB MVP Race, Odds: Raleigh Takes Over As AL Favorite

The MVP race — at least in one league — is no longer a foregone conclusion.

Let’s take a look at the odds for which two players will separate themselves from the rest by winning MVP at the end of the year, with odds from DraftKings Sportsbook as of July 28.

American League MVP 2025

Cal Raleigh: -130 (bet $10 to win $17.69 total)
Aaron Judge: +100 (bet $10 to win $20 total)
Tarik Skubal: +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total)
Jose Ramirez: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total)
Bobby Witt Jr.: +8000 (bet $10 to win $810 total)

What to know: Just a week ago, the AL MVP race appeared … in hand? Aaron Judge — last year’s winner — had been this year’s favorite since before Opening Day and was at -650 to win the award on July 17. But on July 26, he was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. Then, over the weekend, Seattle’s Cal Raleigh hit two home runs to give him a league-leading 41 dingers on the season, and all of a sudden, we have a new favorite.

Judge is currently leading the AL in batting average (.342) and hits (128), but is second in home runs and RBIs behind Raleigh, who was at +370 on July 17. And those ranks will most certainly change with Judge missing time.

Judge and Shohei Ohtani have split the last four AL MVP awards. Can Raleigh put an end to that streak?

National League MVP 2025

Shohei Ohtani: -2000 (bet $10 to win $10.50 total)
Pete Crow-Armstrong: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
Kyle Schwarber: +2800 (bet $10 to win $290 total)
Juan Soto: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total)
Ketel Marte: +7000 (bet $10 to win $710 total)

What to know: The NL MVP race is not as hotly contested. Actually, Ohtani shortened from -1100 on July 17 to -2000 as of July 28. Ohtani opened the year as the favorite after winning the NL MVP last season. Currently, he is leading the NL in home runs (38) and is first in runs scored (99) by a wide margin. Presumably, his RBIs would be higher (he only has 71) if he didn’t bat leadoff, meaning he is often up to the plate with no runners in scoring position. Ohtani is looking to win back-to-back NL MVP awards for the first time since Albert Pujols did it in 2008 and 2009. However, he won the AL MVP in 2023 and NL MVP in 2024, making him the first player in MLB history to win MVP back-to-back in each league.
